Friday evening, 8/21/2009, at 9:49 PM, the primary COSINe storage unit (NAS) experienced multiple drive failures causing the unit to shut down. All services depending on the NAS for storage subsequently became unavailable. Affected services were: home directories (Z:), IMAP (Email storage) HTTP (all COSINe hosted web sites), and SSH to frontend, imap and web.
After running diagnostics and swapping in a spare drive, the unit was brought back online at 11:07 PM. No files or Email was lost.
