Critical Microsoft Windows Security Vulnerability - RPC Server Service - KB958644

Microsoft, on Thursday, released an urgent security update for Windows outside of their normal monthly schedule. This is due to the severity of the vulnerability patched in the update. The update corrects a remote vulnerability that can be exploited without any user interaction. There are already active public exploits. It is very important that systems are updated as soon as possible. COSINe has rolled out the update to be installed on SCIENCE domain computers with a restart deadline of 5:00 PM Saturday. Please make sure to update any non-domain machines (typically laptops and personally owned machines).

If you are uncertain if your computer is a domain system or whether it is set to get Automatic Updates, simply run Windows Updates.
