At approximately 1500 a brief power outage in Cordley caused the air-conditioning unit that serves the COSINe server room to power-off. The server room temperature is monitored, however, the server room temperature had reached 90'F by the time COSINe staff arrived on-site 20 minutes following the outage. It appears that the excessive temperature caused a failure in the drive arrays that provide storage for the primary COS server.
We are currently working to rebuild the arrays and hope to have all services online in the next 2 hours. However, it may be necessary to restore from backup tape, in which case recovery time will extend at least into Sunday.
New information will be posted to this site as it becomes available.
